This project is an individual response to calls for international assistance from librarians at the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo (NULBH), and an attempt to provide the valuable titles that can help in reconstruction of the NULBH destroyed catalogs and collections. It was a challenge to searche the University of Arizona library holdings hopping that there may be some hidden rare title on Bosniaca. This project gives a bibliographical listing of the University of Arizona library holdings on Bosniaca and intends also to be a collection development tool in Arizona's university libraries.
By definition, Bosniaca is consisting of all documents in any format written in any language on or about the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It includes the items published within the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and items created by the Bosnian authors regardless of language.
Methodology
The U of A on-line catalog is searched by:
Many of the selected items matched on several criteria and many of retrieved materials fall outside the definition of Bosniaca. Language titles are included after having reviewed them at the U of A Main Library. Marked red are typos and marked blue are added letters or words.
I would like to thank to Prof. Dr. Martin Fricke at the University of Arizona, School of Information Resources and Library Science, for the support in realization of this project. Special thanks to Dr. Kemal Bakarsic at the University of Sarajevo, Faculty of Philosophy, for supervising the project and helping whenever help was needed.
November 1998.
